Mike Skinner's song machine

Mike Skinner's songwriting explosion on Twitter has continued this week, including this song:

Where My Heart Has Been (MP3)

Also, if you liked the "...Swine Flu" from last week, you can now download it as an individual track:

He's Behind You, He's Got Swine Flu (MP3)

Check it!

The Street's "He's Behind You, He's Got Swine Flu"

Mike Skinner went above and beyond with this week's new Streets track by making a video for it and everything. It's timely, and it's got vaguely Cantina-esque horns in the background!

UPDATE: Skinner continues Twitter affair

Mike Skinner of The Streets has decided to continue his love affair with Twitter.

As we reported here last week, he released three songs (Producer Mark found one of them to be pretty good, and the other two to be just okay. I agree. But hey, they're free, why not download them?) He posted this morning that he will continue to post more songs for free on zshare as he finishes them.

Here's today's, entitled Long Working Day. Enjoy. Please comment/review/etc.

The Streets + Twitter

Hey readers, just a quick update during a break in my class:

Mike Skinner of The Streets announced today on his twitter that he would be using the site to release three new songs.

It appears the first one, I Love My iPhone, hit this afternoon a bit after 4. Keep yourselves watching for the other two.

Thoughts, comments on the song(s), unsolicited criticism... throw it all in the comments section.

And, bee-tee-dubs: You do know you can find WSOU (and me) on Twitter too, right?

The Streets -- Rave?

Contrary to what I gathered from the contemplative content of The Streets' last release, Everything is Borrowed, it appears that Skinner is going to go back to the studio and do one more album before calling it quits.

And, well, he wants to go rave it up.

It's like a bachelor party for his whole life. One last bit of crazy before the family dance really takes over.

Whatever it turns out to be, I'm excited. Everything is Borrowed was a tight, refined, well-arranged album.

Artist of the Month: The Streets

The Campus Buzz Artist of the Month is The Streets.

Mike Skinner, otherwise known as The Streets recently released his newest album, Everything is Borrowed, with much speculation from him and fans that this may be his final album under the moniker.

The album is out in standard formats and also on a limited edition green Streets flash drive, shaped in the lighter design that has graced Streets promo material for years now. If you scrounge the net you can probably find some retailing for about ₤27 or more on auction pages.

Much of the material gives off a retrospective vibe, underscoring the possibility that this will be the end of The Streets as we know it. Scarecrow says he thinks it's a worthy addition to Skinner's overall body of work through his several albums and EPs.

To get a feel for the new material, check out this free download for the final track off the album, "The Escapist". Also included is the video for the song, which is scenic, to say the least.
